news update

Over the past 2 years, we at TDA have been actively working on business and micro-enterprise training with young disenfranchised women and young prostitutes in Africa.  Recently several of the girls have been able to get off the streets and get free of the sex trade as they have started their own businesses.

For example, Valentina has successfully started her own jewelry business and has made enough money to move into a new house with furniture and electricity, been reunited with children who had been taken from her due to her previous lifestyle AND paid their school fees (her son is now 1st in his class academically), as well as starting her own bank account.  Her life is completely transformed.

Some are not only making and selling jewelry, but have been trained as trainers for other at risk women to teach them to do the same. Devotte has started her own hair saloon and is beginning to turn a profit and Betty and Hozyana are retailing second hand clothing - the list goes on.

We have an opportunity to do this with our new project - "Mary's Bridal".

There is no welfare system in most African countries and this is why we at TDA are COMMITTED to furthering sustainable business and micro-enterprise opportunities for these women.

"Mary's Bridal" - a wedding garment rental initiative. This affords us an opportunity to further train young women in life skills and vocational skills, setting them up in cooperatives for economic sustainability.

If you would like to get involved reuniting families and helping these young women attain financial freedom from sex slavery please contact us.
